HIPAA Security Rule
Primer
The Health Insurance and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
is designed to protect those who were previously ill from losing
their health insurance when they change jobs or residences. In
creating the law, Congress also sought to streamline the healthcare
system by adopting consistent standards for transmitting electronic
healthcare claims in a uniform manner.
The attached form will provide you with a
preliminary overview of the HIPAA Security Rule. More detailed
tools and information will be available later this year.
